Safeguarding
Safeguarding is everyone's business!
We ALL have a statutory duty to "Safeguard and promote the welfare of children"
This means:
- Protecting children from maltreatment;
- Preventing impairment of children's health or development;
- Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care;
- Taking action to enable all children to have the best life chances
'Working Together to Safeguard Children', DFE 2015
At Windmill Hill we take this responsibility very seriously. We receive statutory training every 3 years, with an annual safeguarding induction.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mr Simon Plant. Our Designated Deputy Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) are: Mrs Cheryl Lunn, Mr Rob Tate & Mrs Joanne Furniss.
If any parent has a concern about a child at Windmill Hill they should speak immedidately to any of the Safeguarding officers.
As a school, we adhere to the guidance within 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' DfE 2020. All staff have annual training and on this important guidance and any changes to it. We also liaise with www.safeguardingsheffieldchildren.org (SSCB) on all matters relating to the safeguarding of children.
The school adopts all the policies and procedures of the SSCB. These can be found here:

Anti-Bullying
The school works hard to ensure children feel safe and happy. Through our PSHE lessons and assemblies we educate and support children to understand the definition of bullying, spot the signs and to deal with incidents of bullying.
Our anti-bullying policy (see policies page) details the definition of bullying and sets out clearly the school's approach to dealing with any reported incidents of bullying.
Our school council have produced a child-friendly leaflet that is displayed in all classrooms. This summarises the key points of the policy in a way that is accessible to all children. A copy of this leaflet can be found below.
